Update on proposed changes to the law on screening in fertility treatment |
Last month, we welcomed proposed changes to the law relating to reciprocal IVF and known donation from individuals with undetectable HIV. However, following the announcement of the General Election, this legislation has not progressed through Parliament.
We will update the sector if these changes progress following the General Election. Clinics should continue to follow existing law and our guidance. |
Change to the law on posthumous storage of gametes and embryos for patients who died before 1 July 2022 |
This year has been busy for us and the fertility sector, including the launch of our new fertility dashboard, huge increase in requests to ‘Opening the Register’ information, including the first donor conceived children who became eligible to find their donor since the removal of donor anonymity in the UK, and proposed changes to the law on screening in fertility treatment. We have therefore decided to postpone the PR event for this year and will look to hold it again when there are important and significant issues to discuss with PRs. |
